Last year Communities 1st’s contribution to community engagement in the Abbey Line was recognised and showcased in the Rail Partnership’s Annual Report of Activities. In August 2020 we successfully recruited a new team of ‘station adopters’ to support several spring/summer projects including the CRP’s Bee Friendly initiative. Four posters giving advice on mental health were put up on every platform at all 7 stations along the Abbey Line. Over 370 posters have been displayed in 140 locations across the district.

In October 2020, Communities 1st became a Gateway organisation for the government’s Kickstart Scheme, aimed at helping 16-24 year olds at risk of becoming long-term unemployed.
Communities 1st launched the Inspire Programme in 2019, in response to the Department for Education’s endorsement of the Gatsby Benchmarks for good careers advice.

Throughout the lockdown, we offered Mutual Aid groups (created in response to Covid-19) advice and support on safeguarding, vetting of volunteers, compliance, guidance on best practises, insurance coverage and access to banking facilities.
