During 2021
2021 has been a challenging year for many people, but we are very proud of how our volunteers and staff have continued to provide much needed support to communities through difficult times.
Across Hertsmere, St Albans, Broxbourne & East Herts, over 1,800 volunteers have carried out over 75,562 tasks for 2,131 people as part of the Covid Compassionate Community Connector programme. These have included shopping deliveries, telephone calls and accompanying client on walks!
We've helped keep our communities safe!
Over 3,000 volunteers have helped with the vaccine programme, contributing 172,488 hours of their time at 40 vaccination centres across Hertfordshire, West Essex, Luton, Bedford and Milton Keynes
Helped to connect our community!
Our volunteer drivers have carried out over 1,592 journeys in 2021! These included carrying vulnerable people to their vaccination or hospital appointments, taking refugees to activities or social events, and delivering equipment to vaccination sites.
Welcomed NHS international nurses!
Our volunteers have supported 53 NHS international nurses coming from all over the globe! The nurses' volunteer 'buddies' have helped them to navigate their area, find places of interest, and integrate into the local community.
Provided company to the isolated!
Communities 1st volunteers have made thousands of calls to over 700 isolated or lonely clients, checking on their welfare and providing them with much appreciated company.
Helped restore residents' independence!
Our volunteers have carried out over 200 neighbourly walks, accompanying residents to the shops or around their local area to help them feel confident stepping outside again!
..and delivered Christmas cheer!
Our volunteers delivered 120 gift bags, filled with baubles, gift cards and information about local resources, to residents who were isolated. We also helped Small Acts of Kindness to deliver 420 more!
