The role would be ideal for someone looking to develop experience in a Customer service or receptionist capacity. As a Volunteer Hub Helper, you will provide a welcome presence for people coming into our hubs. This role is public facing so needs someone that is confident communicating with a wide range of people. A positive attitude and the desire to learn are essential, as is a non-judgemental and supportive approach to people who are facing problems. A good working knowledge of standard IT programmes (MS Office, Outlook) would be useful, but not essential. A good eye for detail is also required.
This role offers a great opportunity for the right person who is looking to; gain experience in the Third Sector; develop their communication skills; develop their office based and management experience; or just simply 'give something back to their community'. What will I be doing?
- Covering reception duties, answering the telephones and welcoming users to the hub
- Interviewing potential Volunteers
- Phoning potential volunteers to gather information
- Providing information about the charity’s activities to the public
- Supporting volunteers to apply for our members volunteer opportunities
- Supporting the collection, collation and inputting of service data
- This Role will include working in our outreach hubs across the districts and in our main hub in St Albans

We are looking for someone with the following skills and experience
- Committed to working with the community with a passion for helping others
- Good written skills and ability to speak confidently with variety of stakeholders
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to monitor and maintain own standards and pay attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Flexible approach and willingness to work as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft word
- Ability to work independently and ask for clarification when needed
- Able to commit to at least 1 day per week

- This opportunity is ideal for anyone who would like to get office or reception experience.
- No formal qualifications or prior experience are required to volunteer with us.
- We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds and abilities.
- A full charity induction will be given before the volunteer starts with us and ongoing training is offered depending on which event you are working on
- This role is based in your local area.
- References will be required from all applications and will be taken up.

- Volunteers MUST be over the age of 18.
- A minimum of six months commitment is required.
